Noticed 3 or 4 barcodes with replica shirts in the Alpari upper on Saturday!

Normally I sit in the BML but had 8 of us at the weekend so we moved to accommodate everyone..

It's a question of degree. I don't have a problem with Zarate starting instead of Jarvis, but I do take exception to the idea that he was outstanding or 'made the difference', although he certainly did seem to anticipate Carroll's knock downs better than anyone else.

We looked defensively more sound before Jarvis went off and we can't be certain that Zarate would have been so effective an attacking force against 11 fresh players.

It was a solid team performance and all the players, including Jarvis who was making his first start in 6 months, deserve some credit.

We have looked a better team in the last couple of games after Zarate has come on. For me he starts in a front two with Carroll against West Brom. Jarvis drops to the bench.

Downing HAS to be hitting the target with that chance.

We didn't create a clear cut chance till he came on even the goal was a miskick
The ball for dowings chance was sublime
Until he came on we were very direct once Zarate came on we started to play a bit moreand we looked far likely to score and it was only bad finishing from Downing that we didn't wrap the game up
He looked far more likely to score than carroll did

To be fair the bloke he was running against had the longest legs ever

I like Zarate, but that moment right at the end where he was running on to the ball but run out of steam was a bit dire. If that had been Cole then we wouldn't of heard the last of it on here

I don't know how reliable Physioroom are, but Valencia,Sakho and Song are expected to return on Tuesday.

We were superb in the 2nd half. Great to see that even with players out we can get a win

Just remembered, did anyone else see the sub Cabella kick out at Cresswell on the halfway line a few seconds after Aaron had played the ball forward?

Cresswell made nothing much of it, but asked the question as it was right in front of the lino and he did nothing!

Tiote is massively over rated, had 1 good season and has been bang average since.

What Surface said. Zarate looked good in his cameo appearance, but 'the diffference'? Laughable. Carroll was NOT 'awful' either.

I must say I was surprised by Ameobi Jnr. Was expecting a lumbering lump like Shola but he has a bit about him.

Perez was nippy and got around well but luckily didn't have an end product.
Thought Tiote ran the game in the first half but has been out for a while and faded before they took him off.
Sissoko again was better in the first half before he had his mad minute and got himself sent off.
Not sure who they were missing besides Collocini but at full strength I'd reckon we would cause them many more problems.

'm not knocking him, he's a good player. But surely any attacking player coming on fresh with 20 minutes to go should look dangerous against 10 men desperately seeking an equaliser.

I enjoyed seeing the Newcastle fans sat in silence for the majority of the second half.

Well if we're talking about their players, Ameobi stood out for me
